Why we're here

We're all from the Midwest. This is home, and we're here because we love this place and because we all noticed the same thing.

For a century, American culture had two coasts and a blank space between them. The broad, universal stories we grew up with became harder to find, and somewhere along the way "premium" and "popular" started to sound like opposites. As a result, the millions of people who live between the coasts became the largest underserved audience in America.

Nobody thought to ask them what they wanted to watch, so we did. Our research showed that they want big, heartfelt stories about people and places they recognize, told with the same care the coasts give their own. Most people see the heart of the country as the empty part. We see it as the unclaimed part, and we happen to know it better than anyone.

Why "Twin Pines"

Our name says a lot about how we see things. We took it from a mall in a movie, from a sign most people never notice that was put there for the ones who do. We liked that it rewards the careful watcher, and we liked what it means even more. Every place has two versions: the one everyone agreed to believe and the one that was actually there. The coasts wrote the first version of the middle from a distance. We came home to tell the second.
